Equalizer Preamps

EQ Preamps use one or more EQ modules, which boost or cut one region of the audio spectrum. There are 5 peaking and 2 shelving modules available. Build your own custom preamp by chaining modules together like a pedal board, or choose one of the example systems below. See the Preamp Modules page for details on each module. (More Info...)

More Information

Uderhill preamps are built with input buffer(s) for the type of pickup being used, a mixer (blend) module for two-pickup basses, and then the desired EQ modules. EQ modules are normally chained together after the mixer for a conventional multi band preamp, but they can also be used before the mixer, so you can have a separate "preamp" for each pickup! All EQ modules are semi-parametric. You are not locked into one frequency profile because you can set the frequency of the EQ with the lower stacked knob. Peaking modules (EP series) boost or cut a range of frequencies on either side of the frequency setpoint, while shelving modues (ES series) boost or cut all frequencies above or below the setpoint.

Click on a module in the Preamp Modules page for detailed specifications. The current lineup is:

  • EPB Bass EQ - Peaking bass, used in 3-band setups or as a low bass for filter preamps.

  • EPM Mid EQ - Peaking midrange, used in any configuration.

  • EPT Treble EQ - Peaking treble, used in 3-band setups.

  • EPL Low EQ - Low to low-mid range, for a 2 band setup that covers all frequencies.

  • EPH High EQ - High-mid to high, to pair with EPL.

  • ESB Bass EQ - Shelving bass, same range as EPB. Gentle first order profile.

  • EST Treble EQ - Shelving treble, same range as EPT.  Gentle first order profile.

Input buffer modules are available which allow different types of pickups to be mixed and matched:

  • BP Buffer - For passive and most active pickups.

  • BA Buffer - For high-output active pickups.

  • B4 Buffer - For four-string multi-coil pickups.

  • B5 Buffer - For five-string multi-coil pickups.

  • BZ Buffer - For piezo pickups.
